About Excelsior International Academy in Pompano Beach, Florida
Located in East Pompano Beach, Excelsior International Academy has provided early childhood and elementary education to children ages 1 to 12 years old, since the school’s inception in March 2016.
Our highly trained teachers and staff are dedicated to serving your immediate and long-term educational needs. Additionally, a great deal of effort was placed into the development of literacy-rich classrooms designed to engage the children’s creative and cognitive abilities. Our school’s curriculum is based on empirical research that has generated the best instructional strategies and resources that challenge our students’ critical thinking abilities and introduce them to learning concepts well in advance of other academic curricula.
And the best part is that all of this is done in a very safe, loving, and nurturing environment!

Our programs are designed to be inclusive of all children, including those with identified disabilities and special learning and developmental needs. Experiences with music, reading, science, language, technology, math, movement, and art are incorporated into our daily lesson plans.
Regularly scheduled snacks and meals, rest time, indoor and outdoor play, limited access to interactive technology for older students, and routines in physical caregiving promote your child’s health and comfort and enhance our ability to care for them. At Excelsior International Academy, we strive to optimize your child’s physical, social, cognitive, emotional, and academic needs, and linguistic development in a caring and supportive environment.
Who We Are
Excelsior International Academy got its start in 2016 from Dr. Shantell Saunders, a university professor and researcher who followed her passion for educating young minds to become tomorrow’s leaders. We decided to do things a bit differently at Excelsior by creating a space that fosters early learning in a fun, safe, exciting, and rewarding way that allows children from 1 to 12 years old to explore the world around them.
We believe our innovative approach gives children a bright and positive start in life as we encourage both exploration and discovery as well as emotional intelligence and building friendships.

A FREE Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program (VPK), offering free, state-funded education consisting of 540 hours of educational instruction.
With flexible hours ranging from 3 to 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday, we ensure your child receives a quality education that exceeds the state’s benchmarks and is prepared for a successful academic journey.
STEM activities are incorporated into weekly lesson plans to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills and to prepare all children for future success.
A library enrichment program that enables all children to participate in reading activities and research projects.
Computer-based instruction for elementary school students.
Small specialized classes that are designed
around each child’s needs enable our teachers to gather an in-depth understanding of your child.

Merging Teaching and Childcare
Excelsior International Academy offers five interactive childcare programs to residents and employees of Pompano Beach, Florida. These include full-time childcare, part-time/drop-in childcare, Free VPK, private elementary, and after-school care.
We believe that it’s never too early to start learning and that it’s vital to always present opportunities for children to learn and grow as soon as they enroll at our school.
By developing our programs with curriculum experts and childcare specialists, we’ve been able to hone in on what makes early education a success and create a learning program that allows our children to enter school seamlessly.
