Excelsior International Academy’s Curriculum

Children’s joy and happiness are a big part of their learning. At Excelsior International Academy, we encourage them to have fun as a part of their education, with child-led activities which are adapted to their abilities and interests.

We use the Creative Curriculum & Abeka Curriculum as a foundational tool to help foster the development of knowledge, skills, and abilities among our toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary school students.

These project-based early childhood curricula are designed to foster the whole child's development through teacher-led small and large group activities. Additionally, the elementary school curriculum is based on empirical research that has generated the best instructional strategies and resources that challenge our students’ critical thinking abilities and introduce them to learning concepts well in advance of other academic curricula.

Our teachers jointly plan activities based on weekly themes and children’s interests. Additionally, STEM activities are incorporated into weekly lesson plans to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills and to prepare all children for future success.

Our programs follow the educational standards of Florida’s Department of Children and Family and Florida’s Department of Education which encourage a variety of methods and activities to accommodate and benefit the diverse learners in our classrooms.

Through interactions with other children and educational materials, your child will learn about the world while forming friendships that could last a lifetime.

Full-Time Care

On a full-time basis, children enrolled in our educational programs will learn pertinent skills and abilities in physical health; fine and gross motor development; cognitive development and general knowledge; language and communication; and social and emotional development.

Building on the traditional curriculum that reinforces manipulatives, active physical play, language and cognitive development, and visual and audio stimulation, Excelsior’s educational programs also employ innovative interactive technology that supports and promotes deep learning. This interactive media includes digital portfolios that include photographs as well as audio and video recordings of the children’s work, and the use of a parent communication app to share these life-changing experiences.

Part-time/Drop-In Care

Drop-in/part-time care refers to occasional care lasting no more than 4 hours each day which occurs on an as-needed basis. This service is available only when space permits. Due to licensing enrollment limits, space may not always be available to accommodate part-time children.

For parents seeking drop-in care, it is imperative that you speak with a staff member 24 hours in advance of the date you require this service to ensure that space is available for your child.

FREE Voluntary
Pre-Kindergarten Care

The FREE Voluntary Pre-kindergarten (VPK) program focuses on preparing four-year-olds for kindergarten and beyond. Pre-reading, pre-math, language, and social skills are just a few of the components that have been built into the curriculum for this age group.

VPK education is FREE to Excelsior’s four-year-olds. The child must have turned four years old on or before September 1 of the current school year in order to participate in the FREE VPK program for the upcoming school year.

The FREE VPK program is offered from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm during weekdays.

Private Elementary (Kindergarten Through 5th Grade)

Excelsior’s private elementary program offers five full days of in-person learning designed to help children develop pertinent knowledge, skills, and abilities to excel in elementary school and beyond. Our small class sizes and low teacher-to-student ratio foster individualized learning that promotes literacy. The school’s specialized curriculum consists of developmentally appropriate content that is designed to meet the fundamental needs of all young learners.

Classroom teachers are required to have earned at minimum a professional educator’s certificate from the Florida Department of Education, although most possess degrees in elementary education.
