Room 1 - Toddler Rooms
1 to 2 Years Old
In this classroom, our teachers strive to create a safe, nurturing, and explorative environment that supports a strong relationship between teachers and children, and amongst the children themselves. This is done by establishing trustful teacher/child relationships while fostering a sense of security and belonging. Our experienced teachers identify and introduce developmentally appropriate practices to facilitate communication between caregivers and your little explorers, thus enhancing their ability to express themselves and connect with their peers, teachers, and the world around them. All of this is made possible with Excelsior’s low child-to-teacher ratios.
Room 2 - Older Twos
2 to 3 Years Old
This specialized program is designed to help our older toddlers explore, learn, and grow in a space that allows for individualized attention and stimulation. Children are immersed in opportunities to discover, develop, and thrive socially, cognitively, and academically through the use of a curriculum that teaches them about buildings, balls, clothes, animals, plants, community helpers, and recycling. Additionally, children are encouraged to use fine and gross motor skills with a focus on penmanship by tracing letters and numbers. Children’s ability to recognize and recall letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and other objects is especially critical at this stage of development.

Children study math concepts, including simple counting, number recognition, quantities, shape identification, and sorting.
Language skill development is equally significant at this stage of development so attention is given to the creation of penmanship skills, including holding the pencil, tracing their names, name recognition, vocabulary expansion, and storytelling.
Science, creative arts, music, and dance are introduced through several curricula studies including plants, animals, community helpers, recycling, balls, clothes, five senses, and other materials that enable our children to develop essential skills and learn about the world around them.
Room 4 - Four-Year-Olds
4 to 5 Years Old
This curriculum focuses on fine-tuning literacy skills while exploring their individual strengths and weaknesses in a team-building environment. This is done through pre- and post-assessments that test children’s knowledge in a variety of subjects including literacy and language, reading, math, and vocabulary. Additional subjects included in the curriculum are science, social studies, and arts.
The state-mandated Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program is a core part of the curriculum for this classroom. Therefore, students' knowledge, skills, and abilities are assessed using statewide benchmarks that allow us to understand how our students are developing academically in comparison to their peers, nationally. Holistically, this educational experience prepares our children for the next stages of their academic journey while fostering a love for learning and exploration.
